OUR PASTOR
Superintendent A.V. Newbon has been a faithful member of Community Temple since its inception in 1971 under it's founder the Bishop W.F. Newbon. He has served as Music Director, Church Organist, Sunday School Teacher, and YPWW President. He was also the president of the YMIA (Young Men in Action) which was a very successful mentoring program for young men.
In 2006, with prayerful consideration, Bishop W.F. Newbon who was both founder and pastor relinquished his tenure as pastor and appointed Elder Andrei Newbon as the pastor of Community Temple Church of God in Christ.
He was appointed as the District Superintendent of the Decatur District of the Churches of God in Christ respectfully. He has also served as the District AIM President and Vice President of the Decatur District.
Superintendent A.V. Newbon was appointed by the late T.T. Rose as the Assistant Jurisdictional Music President to Pastor/Dr. J.L Morrison who currently serves as the current Jurisdictional Prelate.
Superintendent A.V. Newbon has served extensively in the Central Illinois Jurisdiction since its inception.
He has served faithfully under the leadership of the late Bishop T.T. Rose, the late Bishop W.F. Newbon (His father), and currently serves under the leadership of Bishop J.L Morrison.

Superintendent Newbon is the son of the late Bishop W. F and Lady Pat Newbon. He is married to the beautiful Marcia E. Newbon. They have two beautiful children, Alex and Andrenique. He is the blessed brother of three wonderful siblings; Leslie Newbon, Eric Newbon, and Sacorea Newbon.
Superintendent A.V. Newbon continues to lead the wonderful parishioners of Community Temple to greater areas of ministry. His greatest passion is to see men and women transformed into the image of the creator, and to enjoy peaceful fellowship among those who trust in the living God.
